The Secret Hiding Place

Tom and Davy are missing. They should be in class, but they are not. The village policeman has a mystery, for Mrs. Janssen’s big pan is missing too. And so is Farmer Cooper’s “Keep Out” sign. When Tom and Davy finally show up, flushed and dirty, they refused to tell their teacher where they have been. It’s a secret: so she simply asks them, “Is it a beautiful or an ugly secret?” That’s a question only the boys can answer.
