The exercises in this book are designed to develop critical-thinking skills in young children through a variety of math concepts. These concepts include number signs, counting, addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, graphs, geometry, volume, and more, as well as number concepts that are involved in such topics as time and money.
The exercises involve organizing information, sequencing, pattern decoding, understanding relationships, inferring, solving analogies, and deducing. Many of the lessons are pictorial so that they can be completed by children who have not yet learned how to read. However, there is a range of challenge levels in the book so that children who are strong readers or who are advanced intellectually will also find exercises that engage them and require them to put on their thinking caps.
