Shipping and Shopping Policy

Consider placing an online order even if you live locally. Choose local pick-up during the check-out process to avoid shipping fees, and make sure you leave some extra time to browse the shelves when you come for your order.

We’re so grateful for our local community and truly love opening our doors to you.

While you’re welcome to shop with us in person, our space functions primarily as a warehouse fulfilling online orders. Because those online purchases have already been paid for (and just not picked and packed), we prioritize processing them first.

On rare occasions, this means an item you’ve found in-store may already belong to an online customer. When that happens, we aren’t able to sell it in person even if it’s still on the shelf.

We know that can be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding as we balance serving both our online and local customers.

If you need your order delivered, Flat Rate Shipping is available for personal orders. Currently our flat rate is $15.50 on personal orders of $150 or more. Orders under $150, as well as school and retailer orders, are charged standard shipping rates.

If you’ve forgotten an item on your order, email us the minute you realize (our sympathies if it’s 3am). If your order hasn’t shipped yet, we’ll give you a code so you can place a separate order for the remembered item(s). The extra shipping that would have been applied automatically during the checkout process will be waived

If an item is backordered and delays your entire order, you may request a split shipment. However, shipping charges will be applied to both shipments. Available items will ship first, and the remaining items will ship as soon as they arrive.

The Busy Season – Get your order in early to save stress!

Our busy season ramps up in May and does not slow down until October. Our staff works hard… very hard during this time, and we even hire extra staff to ensure your order flies out of here as fast as possible. Here’s the reality though, if you are ordering your curriculum in August, there’s a decent chance you’re going to have to be flexible with your school start-up date. Our suppliers are working in overdrive too, and the resources that we order from them to replenish our shelves can take twice as long during peak season.

We get it! When you wrap up school with your children in May or June, the last thing you have energy for is planning for the following year. Here’s the thing, it’s a pay now or pay later scenario. You can “pay now” and push through with the planning and get your order in early, or you can “pay later” by not getting your order in until August, which will potentially cause a delayed school start-up.

We do our very best to have July, August and September orders shipped within our 2-4 day processing time. However, we need customers to be prepared for potentially longer processing times.

The Christmas Season – Get your order in early to avoid having to print off a picture of the book you are gifting, and then taping it to the inside of a card. Subscribing to our weekly email is the best way to stay informed. You can do that here. We also post “guaranteed Christmas delivery” deadlines on social media.

Shipping Carriers

The flat-rate service of $15.50 (personal orders only) is usually through Canada Post Expedited. If you use our shipping calculator on the shopping cart page, you’ll find other options for shipping. We also offer standard shipping with a carrier that’s not Canada Post, or Priority Service, which is really fast. As fast as we can get it to you. The prices and carriers associated with those services will be posted so you can decide which carrier to choose from to meet your service requirements. Keep in mind that the shipping time starts after we have processed and made your order ready for shipping. That can take up to 4 days.

Rush Orders

There are often good reasons to make something happen yesterday. We can help you hurry if you let us know it’s necessary. If you add the RUSH service to your order, we’ll summon all our minions. We’ll get right on it and have that order to the shipping company within 8 hours if we have all the items you need. This does not include evenings, weekends, or long weekends. If you get the order in at 4pm on a Friday, your order won’t be shipped until Monday at the end of the day. Please note, placing a rush order does not mean overnight shipping.

Processing Times

Once you’ve placed your order, we do our very best to have it picked and packed, and handed over to the delivery company within 2-4 business days. Sometimes our very best isn’t good enough and it takes a little longer than 2-4 business days. Here are some typical reasons why it can be later:

  • Someone just scooped up the last book and you are left holding the empty bag. Chances are a bunch of copies are already rushing towards us, eager to get to you. 
  • Our computer crashed. I know, it’s lame. But it can happen. It hasn’t happened to us yet. But just in case, here’s the excuse.
  • We were packing your order and we had to stop and gently hold every item because we just love your selections SO MUCH! (In this case, an email from you might pull us back into reality…)

If there is a reason for us to hold your order longer than 5 business days, that’s after statutory holidays are considered, then we will email you.

If we need to backorder a title we will hold your entire order until we can ship. If this will take longer than 5 days we will notify you of the total wait time. You will be given 3 options:

  1. Wait until the entire order is ready for flat-rate shipping.
  2. Have us release what is available, and pay an additional shipping fee to have the back-ordered book(s) shipped when they are ready.
  3. Cancel the back-ordered title.

30 Day Return/Exchange Policy.

Please check your order right away and let us know if you need to arrange a return or exchange. If packaging and contents are damaged, you will need to take a couple of pictures and forward those to us within 5 days.

You must receive an approval email from us before you return your items. Without an approval we will not process your return. Please request your approval by using the Contact Form or reply to the order confirmation email.

You may return or exchange items that are in new condition within 30 days of the the invoice date. The invoice date is on the packing slip in your order.

Some exclusions apply. Special orders are final sale and all orders that are paid with a purchase order number are final sale. 

We reserve the right to charge a 10% restocking fee on returns.

Items must be new! CEB may refuse a customer return or charge a restocking fee when the returned item is not like new. Below are some examples that would cause a return refusal or restocking fee:

  • Packaging has been open (CDs, DVDs, Flashcards etc).
  • The package purchased was not returned with all the items in the package 
  • Missing CDs or Flashcards
  • Damage because it was improperly packaged for return shipment.
  • Has been heavily used (pages are feathered and spine has been cracked open).
  • Damage from drops, spilled liquid, or mishandling.
  • When purchased item was already marked as ***Discounted***, ***Lightly Damaged***, ***Older Edition***, ***Older Edition and Lightly Damaged***, etc. 

Refunds must be issued to the same credit card, debit card, gift card, or other form of payment used in the original transaction. 

While we will gladly refund items that are returned in good condition within 30 days of the invoice date, we will not refund the shipping. We can’t really. That’s a done deal. It was shipped.

Again, shipping costs are non-refundable. When an item is returned, we will recover the full cost of the shipping we paid to send the order. For example, if shipping cost us $25 and you paid a $15.50 flat-rate fee, $9.50 will be deducted from your refund to cover the remaining shipping cost.

We know—returns aren’t fun. But shipping real books across Canada involves real people doing real work, and those costs don’t disappear when an order comes back. Returns are absolutely okay, but since no sale ultimately took place, we’re unable to absorb any shipping expense. However, we joyfully absorb some of the shipping costs when a sale is made. 

We will email you confirming that the return was processed. We encourage you to keep your tracking number to confirm delivery.

After we receive your package, we normally process your exchange or refund within five business days. 

If you return part of a package, bundle, or set, the items you keep will be repriced at their individual retail prices. You’ll be charged for the items you keep as if you purchased the pieces individually and not as a bundle. For example, if a two-book set costs $18 and each book sells individually for $10, returning one book will result in an $8 refund.

And just in case you missed it: all purchases paid with a purchase order number are final sale. We do not accept returns on items paid by Purchase Order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you ship to the USA or other countries?

Yes! Keep in mind that we charge in Canadian dollars and ship from Canada. We are not responsible for any fees that you might be charged to cross the border.

How do I place an order?

Website
Follow the prompts on the website, check out from our online shopping cart using one of three payment options: Credit Card, direct transfer, or purchase order number. A confirmation email will follow your order with further instructions if necessary.

Email
We will also accept email orders… 

  • if you have a particularly large order in spreadsheet form that easily communicates the items and quantities you require.
  • if you want to change up a package listed on our website to suit your unique needs and tastes.
  • if there are circumstances beyond your control that are preventing you from ordering via our website.

Email orders will be confirmed with a sales order that will list the item details and final costs. Once you approve the sales order, we will email you a payment link. It will give you access to our secure, online credit card terminal, where you can make the payment. As soon as we receive payment, your order will be considered received and complete, and it will be released for shipping.

We cannot take credit card numbers over the phone. Ever! We have an online credit card terminal that’s safe, secure and easy to use. But we would prefer an e-transfer. It’s fun, safe, and saves about seven clicks on your mouse (compared to the online, secure credit card terminal). Imagine that!

Phone and Text Messages
We do not accept orders over the phone or via text messages. We will consult with you, and discuss your needs and answer questions, but we will not take orders.

Can I change or remove any titles from the curriculum packages?

Yes! If you wish to change a package, or if you have a list already made, just send us an email with the details. We will be in touch with you to complete your order. See above for our email ordering process.

Do you take Purchase Orders numbers (PO numbers)?

We charge $5 to use a PO number, and we do not ship books until payment is received from your school

You may order via the website or email. See above for our email ordering process.

If you use the website, select the Purchase Order payment method during checkout. You may enter one PO number per order. If you enter more than one PO number, only the first PO number will be submitted to your school. 

We are not responsible to allocate amounts among multiple PO numbers. If you need to use more than one PO number, you will need to place more than one order.

As a rule, orders that are paid with a PO number will be held until the school pays for the order. If you need your order sent before payment is received from your school, we require that your credit card number be on file with a signed waiver giving permission to charge your card if a situation arises where the school does not pay. Even then, only schools with excellent payment records will have their orders released before payment. Additionally, we will charge a $10 processing fee. 

If your PO account has insufficient funds, and alternate payment arrangements need to be made, we will charge an $10 processing fee.

If you need to split payment between a PO number and another method of payment, contact us to arrange that. We will need to send you a payment link for the balance remaining after using the PO number. 

Can I pay with an e-transfer?

Yes! Select the Direct Transfer option when you checkout and instructions will follow via email. As mentioned above, this option saves the mice. For real.

Some fine print:

All “Get $5” gift cards can be used for a discount on qualifying merchandise online only. Not for use in store. If you return some or all of the merchandise purchased with a “Get $5” discount, the dollar value discount of the “Get $5” will not be refunded or credited back.

We reserve the right, at any time, to change our prices for products or services sold, effective immediately upon posting on the site, or by email delivery to you.

We shall have the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for products and/or services listed at an incorrect price, rebate or refund, or containing any other incorrect information or typographical errors. We shall have the right to refuse or cancel any such orders whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is canceled, we shall immediately issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge.

Great selection of curated homeschool resources! Best prices across the country so I order here even if I'm in Ontario. Orders are a little slower to fulfill (if you are used to Amazon speeds) but just a bit of planning ahead and it won't be an issue. Staff are great at responding to emails and resolving any issues with my orders.

A fantastic resource for homeschoolers and bibliophiles alike! They provide many popular homeschool curriculum options without the added cost of shipping (if you shop in store). My favorite part of the store, though, is upstairs where you can find a wide range of curated literature sorted by age and topic. There are so many beautiful, pre-vetted books to choose from, the only problem is trying to leave without breaking the budget.
